Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility chi and electrical resistivity rho are reported in the temperature range 300-900 K for La1-xSrxMnO3, with x=0, 0.13, 0.20, 0.25, 0.35, and 0.45, and for CaMnO3. The main focus of this work is to develop a better understanding of the Curie-Weiss paramagnetism and the temperature-independent contributions to the magnetic susceptibility due to Pauli (chi(Pauli)) and Van Vleck paramagnetism. Measurements of the electrical resistivity in the same temperature range were conducted to learn about the electrical conduction mechanisms, and whether or not charge carriers are present which might contribute to chi(Pauli).
