On the use of multistability for image processing

We use the multistable property of a Cellular Nonlinear Network (CNN) to extract the regions of interest of an image representing the radiography of a soldering. We also propose the electronic implementation of the elementary cell of this CNN for a further electronic implementation of this network. We conclude with a discussion which enlarges the potential applications of this elementary cell in the field of nonlinear physics. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
