In order to investigate the springback behavior of brass in micro sheet metal forming processes, an efficient and low cost 3 point bending experiment was conducted. Thicknesses and average grain diameters of brass 26000 1/2 Hard (HO2) were controlled to achieve a range of desired T/D (thickness/average grain diameter) ratios. The relationship between springback amount and T/D ratio was studied through this experiment. It can be concluded from this study that the springback amount of brass can be expressed as a function of T/D when its thickness is less than 350 mu m. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
