A simple hot colloidal method of preparing ZnTe nanowires is presented. Nanowire morphology was controlled by varying the identity of the amine cosurfactant in the growth solution. This produced smooth, brushlike, and multibranched brushlike structures in high yield. Nanowires appear to form via an oriented attachment mechanism.
