A closer look at faculty service: What affects participation on committees?

Research suggests that females and faculty of color perform more service than their White male counterparts. This article uses the 1999 NSOPF survey and regression models for count data to investigate committee participation and hours spent on committee work by different demographic groups. Analyses reveal few differences in rates of service.
