Auxetic polymeric fibers have been produced using a melt-spinning technique. The effect of the processing parameters on the fibers has been examined. It was found that the auxetic effect occurs over a very tight temperature window with screw speed, take-off speed and die geometry affecting homogeneity and auxeticity. This is an important finding as it provides a method of producing more homogeneous auxetic fibers with tailored values of Poisson's ratio.
