Well-crystallized Mg(BH4)(2) was chemically synthesized and the effect of ball milling and Ti-based additives on the dehydriding properties were investigated. The dehydriding reaction of the as-synthesized Mg(BH4)(2) initiates at approximately 535 K and about 13.7 mass% of hydrogen is desorbed. Compared with the as-synthesized Mg(BH4)(2), few changes are observed in the samples after ball milling, while the initial dehydriding temperature of Mg(BH4)(2) is significantly reduced by the addition of TiCl3, i.e. from 535 K down to 361 K.
