In this work, we present a new synthesis path and characterization results of the alanate, Ca(AlH4)(2). We have synthesized for the first time, calcium alanate, directly from starting mixtures of AlH3 and CaH2 using mechanosynthesis. Ca(AlH4)2 has been identified using magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) measurements. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
