Lead-free piezoelectric (1 - x)(K0.48Na0.52)NbO3-xLiSbO(3) [(1 - x)KNN-xLS] ceramics were prepared by conventional sintering. A morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between the orthorhombic and tetragonal phases was identified in the composition range of 0.04 < x < 0.06. The ceramics near the MPB exhibit a strong compositional dependence, and good piezoelectric properties, temperature stability, and aging characteristics. It was found that the samples with 5 mol% LS exhibited enhanced electrical properties (d(33) similar to 262 pC/N, k(p) similar to 46%, T-c similar to 373 degrees C, To-t similar to 60 degrees C. These results show that (1 - x)KNN-xLS ceramic is a promising lead-free piezoelectric material.
