Copper(l) iodide catalyzed three-component reactions of 2-alkynyl benzaldehyde, amine, and diethyl phosphite provide a facile and efficient route to 2,3-disubstituted-1, 2-dihydroisoquinolin-1-ylphosphonate. Palladium(II) chloride gives the similar results. An isoquinoliniurn intermediate may be involved in the reaction process. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
