An efficient new method for the synthesis of eight-membered heterocycles has been developed via a thiophenol mediated intramolecular 8-endo radical cyclization reaction. Alkenyl radicals are generated from easily available terminal alkynes and thiophenol. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
