A technique to prepare U-shaped curved holes by a direct casting method was introduced, and U-shaped curved holes (with a diameter of 2 mm) with an aspect ratio of 35 were successfully prepared. A formula was derived to estimate the diameter of the U-shaped curved holes, which made the theoretical value in good agreement with the experimental result; the relative error was 1 %.
