A photo-assisted metal-free multi-component dehydrogenative condensation has been developed. This multi-component reaction (MCR) has been realized under mild reaction conditions especially under household light irradiation. As a result, the novel tetrahydropyrimidines (THPMs) were obtained in moderate yields and excellent stereoselectivities. Moreover, the approach provided an easy construction of a variety of 2-pyrimidinethiones from the commonly used cyclic ethers.
