Photonic Memory: A facile approach to amplifying fluorescent contrast by introducing photonic crystals (PCs) into optical memory is demonstrated. The fluorescence image on the PC exhibits both higher brightness and contrast compared with that on the glass. The amplification of fluorescent contrast can provide much better sensitivity and resolution, which will be of great significance for developing high-contrast optical storage.
