Metamaterial molecules are formed by magnetoinductive and electroinductive coupling of two single split-ring resonators (SRRs). Structural symmetry breaking enables inductive coupling between bright and dark SRR atoms, represented by white and black spheres. This coupling allows the formation of new hybridized plasmonic modes. The energetic level splitting between the symmetric and antisymmetric modes is shown.
