A composite cathode, consisting of Ba(Zr0.1Ce0.7Y0.2)O3-delta (BZCY) and Sm0.5Sr0.5CoO3-delta (SSC), exhibits remarkable catalytic activity towards oxygen reduction, dramatically enhancing the performance of low-temperature SOFCs based on an oxide proton conductor, as shown in the figure. The peak power densities represent the best performances ever reported for this type of SOFCs-a promising low-cost SOFC system.
