This review gives an overview of the field of low-density (<6gcm(-3)) bulk metallic glasses/composites and their potential engineering and space applications. The review focuses on four systems, Al-, Mg-, Ca-, and Ti-based metallic glass-forming systems. In the following sections, glass forming ability, mechanical properties, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance of the four metallic glass systems and their composites are presented.
