A series of new copper(II) complexes, [Cu(HSalsc)Cl]center dot 1/2H(2)O (1), [{Cu(HSalsc)}(2)(NO3)(2)][{Cu(HSalsc)}(2)- NO3)center dot H2O]NO3 (2), [{Cu(Salsc)}(2)]H2O (3), [Cu(HSalsc)(HIm)]Cl center dot 1/2H(2)O (4), [{Cu(HSalsc)HIm}(2)](NO3)(2) (5) and [Cu(HSalsc)(HIm)]OAc (6) derived from salicylaldehyde semicarbazone (H(2)Salsc) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and UV-Vis absorption spectra as well as electrospray mass spectra (ESI-MS). The crystal and molecular structure of 1, 2, 5 and 6 have been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The supramolecular architectures in 1, 2, 5 and 6 have been also discussed.
