In the title compound, [Sn(C6H5)(3)Cl(C2H6OS)], the Sn-IV atom is coordinated by three phenyl groups, a chloride ion and a dimethyl sulfoxide molecule in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked through intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot Cl hydrogen bonds, weak C-H center dot center dot center dot pi interactions and pi-pi interactions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.934 (3) angstrom. An intramolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot pi interaction is also observed.
