In the title compound, C18H14N2O2 center dot H2O, the dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the naphthalene system is 5.18 (10)degrees. Intramolecular N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds influence the molecular conformation. In the crystal, intermolecular N-H center dot center dot center dot O and O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds are observed as well as pi-pi interactions between the phenyl ring and the substituted ring of the naphthalene [centroid-centroid distance = 3.676 (11) angstrom].
