As a novel optical sensor, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors have shown diverse applications in the field of disease diagnosis Taking advantage of the recent advances in nanomaterials research, this sensing technique can be used to effectively detect biomarkers of ultra-low concentrations. In this highlight article, we focus on the application of SPR sensors in the early diagnosis of cancer, and report the latest research progress, core findings, and future directions.
