Rechargeable Li-air batteries have attracted intensive R&D interest as advanced power sources in recent years. This article highlights the latest advances in the design and application of porous catalytic nanomaterials for air electrodes. The characteristics of three types of catalysts including carbons, noble metals, and metal oxides are introduced, along with a perspective of future research direction of efficient oxygen reduction/evolution bifunctional cathode nanocatalysts.
