Objective: this work aims to present a synthesis of the 'Strategic Action Plan to Tackle Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases (NCD) in Brazil, 2011-2022'. Methodology: the plan elaboration counted on the participation of different institutions, Secretariats and technical areas of the Ministry of Health, and other governmental organizations. Results: after ten months of collective construction, NCDs Plan has been broadcast at the High Level Meeting of the United Nations, in September 2011; the Plan defines and prioritizes actions and investments necessary to face and detain NCDs in the next ten years based on three principles: a) surveillance, information, evaluation and monitoring, b) health promotion, and c) integral care. Conclusion: NCDs Plan consolidation depends on the mobilizing of the entire civil society, to contemplate NCDs as priority in national policies and investments.
