Photonic Microwave Down-Conversion Based on Linear Modulation and Filtering

A photonic technique for self-homodyne down-conversion from an RF/microwave signal is demonstrated. Using this approach information can be extracted from a transmitted carrier microwave signal without using high-speed photodetector and photonic or electronic nonlinear elements.
