The potential dependence of SO2 adsorption on Pt catalyst in MEA was investigated by the CV scanning under typical PEMFCs operating conditions. Results indicated that the potential dependence was different between the Pt crystal structure surface and edge sites and the chemical state of adsorbate was independent of Pt surface coverage. The saturation coverage of sulfur adsorbates on Pt crystal decreased with increasing adsorption potential in the range of 0.35-0.95 V. Pt(111)(2)-S might be formed during the backward potential scanning of the CV scans. More details on the dependence of adsorbates on the adsorption potential will be reported in the future analysis.
