This paper explores the feasibility of improving the stability of the output waveform by giving the robust design of the whole linear transformer driver system (LTDs). The mechanism of the design is analyzed, and a 1-MV/1-MA LTD module is taken as an example to show the procedure of the robust design. The results demonstrate that it is necessary to design the network's parameter considering the random deviations of electrical components' value and time delay jitter of spark switches for the stability of the output of LTDs. In addition, the sensitivity analysis is conducted, and the tolerance design for electrical parameters of every brick is given, which would be the guideline for tolerance requirements for the components to guarantee the reliability confidence of the LTD.
