A rhodium(III)-catalyzed direct alkenylation of benzo[b]thiophenes, thieno[3,2-b]thiophene, and benzo[b]furans with diarylacetylenes proceeds effectively through regioselective C-H bond cleavage at the C2 position and syn-selective carborhodation on the triple bond.
