We present a comparison of Coulomb scattering rates from a two-dimensional carrier reservoir/three-dimensional carrier reservoir and quantum dot states. The scattering rates are microscopically determined in the limit of Born-Markov approximation. The calculations highlight that, within the considered parameter range the scattering from a two-dimensional carrier reservoir is more efficient than from a three-dimensional carrier reservoir.
