New silver complex [Ag(pz)(CF3SO3)] (1) was formed by the coordination reaction of AgCF3SO3 with pyrazine (pz) in the presence of 2-[(S)-4-isopropyl-2-oxazolyl] quinoline (L). When AgBF4 was used instead of AgCF3SO3 as the starting material, complex 2 [Ag(L)(CH3CN)](BF4) was obtained. Complexes 1 and 2 are characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental, and thermogravimetric analysis. Complex 1 shows a 3D framework structure with uninodal eight-connected (4(24).6(4)) topology while complex 2 displays a discrete mononuclear structure. The nonlinear optical properties of 2 were investigated.
