In this review, we describe the existing diagnostic tests, rapid diagnostic tests, and emerging point-of care diagnostic assays for diseases caused by dengue virus (DENV). We organize these recently reported diagnostic technologies by the type of detection platform. First, fabrication of the platform of several modules used for detection of DENV biomarkers is explained. This section is followed by an assessment of the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of the different diagnostic procedures. Finally, our views regarding the future perspectives in this area are presented. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
