One new molecular dyad 8-(2-(pyridine-2-yl)-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine)-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-4,4-difluoroboradiazaindacene (PyIP-BODIPY, L) comprising imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine and boron-dipyrromethene subunits, has been synthesized starting from imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivative and fully characterized. As evidenced by X-ray structural data, with metal cations binding to the vacant bidentate ligand L, five new luminescent transition metal complexes 1-5 (dibromozinc(II), chlorocadmium(ll), chlorotricarbonylrhenium(1), bis(2-phenylpyridine)iridium(111), dichloroplatinum(II) complexes) have been successfully formed. DFT and TDDFT calculations are performed to understand the electronic properties at ground state. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
