The radar signatures of a vertical-axis wind turbine are investigated. Measurement and simulation are carried out for a 1.5-m-tall Darrieus-type turbine model. The backscattering phenomenology is examined in the sinogram and spectrogram. Subsequently, the radar signatures of a 112-m-tall turbine are examined in simulation. Its radar signatures are compared with those of a more commonly seen horizontal-axis wind turbine. Additionally, ground effects due to a conducting plane are considered.
