Simple and ecofriendly hydrothermal method has been used to synthesize MoS2 quantum dots (QDs) with various ligands, L-glutothione (GSH), mercaptosuccinic acid (MSA), cysteamine (CYS), and monothioglycerol (MTG). Among them, GSH-MoS2 QDs demonstrated as an efficient fluorescence probe due to its smaller size, high fluorescence intensity, and good bio-compatibility. (c) 2018 Elsevier B. V.
