The degradation of Ni anode due to the carbon deposition has been observed when the hydrocarbon fuels are used. The perovskite anodes, on the other hand, are chemically and electrochemically stable under SOFC operating conditions. They exhibit increased resistance to carbon deposition compared to Ni anode. Furthermore, they appeared to be active towards the preferential oxidation of H2S. However, undoped perovskites such as titanates and vanadates do not show good enough structural and/or electrical properties. In this study, various amount of Sr substitution is used to enhance the structural and electrical properties of LaVO3 perovskite based on the defect chemistry consideration.
