The generic conduction model for solid polymer HVDC insulation material

A general model is introduced for electric conduction in polymer insulation used in high voltage direct current (HVDC) applications. It is shown that for the often occurring case where majority carrier injection is relevant, a generic boundary condition model is unavoidable. Furthermore, the smallness of the conduction current requires to take dynamic polarization into account in a general DC conduction model. Both issues are illustrated with simulation results and experimental observations.
