The cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) coated with cetrimonium bromide (CF-CT) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (CF-SD) nanoplatelets were synthesized at temperature of 120 degrees C and 140 degrees C respectively for 12 h s by hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD) of as-prepared samples revealed the cubic inverse spinel structure of CoFe2O4 and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images shows nanoplatelets with rhomboidal shaped of average particle size of 173 and 14 nm for CF-CT and CF-SD respectively. The crystallinity in CoFe2O4 nanoplatelets was investigated by X-ray line broadening. FT-IR spectra of CF-CT sample shows a peak at 2827 cm(-1) that indicates presence of cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) in the sample whereas two bands at 2851 and 2927 cm(-1) that confirmed presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in CF-SD sample. The crystallite size and lattice strain in sample was investigated by Williamson-Hall plot (W-H) and size-strain plot (SSP) methods. The physical parameters such as strain, stress and energy density values were calculated for all indexed peaks of XRD by modified W-H plot assuming uniform deformation model (UDM), uniform stress deformation model (USDM) and uniform deformation energy density model (UDEDM) and by the size-strain plot (SSP). The IR data of CF-CT and CF-SD samples have been used to calculate elastic moduli such as stiffness constant (C-11, C-12), longitudinal wave velocity V-l, transverse wave velocity V-t, mean wave velocity V-me, young modulus E, bulk modulus B, rigidity modulus G, Poisson ratio sigma and debye temperature theta(D).
