The heat capacity of epsilon (Fe5Al8) was determined between 1395 and 1455 K by DSC measurements. The homogeneity ranges of the intermetallic phases zeta (FeAl2), eta (Fe2Al5) and theta (Fe4Al13) in the temperature range between 1073 and 1435 K were determined using WDS measurements on annealed and quenched samples in the composition range between 56.0 and 75.3 at.% Al. The solidus and liquidus temperatures of all samples were determined using DTA. A CALPHAD-type assessment of the Al-Fe system was done based on latest experimental results on heat capacity of the intermetallic phases. (c) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
