A compact 1535-nm Er, Yb: glass microchip vortex laser carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) of lh is first presented to the best of our knowledge. The highest pulsed energy reaches 31.4 mu J at a repetition frequency of 250 Hz. The OAM phase singularities were confirmed by a simple self-interference pattern. The process that the LG(0,+/- 1) modes were produced by combining two orthogonal Hermite-Gaussian modes in a plane-parallel resonator was recorded. The dynamic behaviors of transverse patterns were discussed, giving a more luminous comprehension of directly generated vortex beam in solid-state oscillators.
