Lyndenmayer systems (L-systems) allow us to grow sophisticated patterns by applying just few simple rules. The L-systems are now universal tools for abstract representation of plant development. Can the L-systems be used to grow Persian words and sentences? Yes. We demonstrate this by introducing grammars and rules to generate 108 words of a Persian poem Neyname from Rumi. The proposed method is scalable. We also construct hierarchies of complexity of the words and provide some insights on how the complexity of the poem changes during its development. The grammars and rules proposed could be used in future automatic visual generations of Persian poems.
