This paper discusses the influence of addition nickel-coated graphene (GnNi) to alumina matrix and its impact on mechanical properties of obtained composites. The composites were prepared via powder metallurgy processing using the SPS method to consolidate powder mixtures. The effects of addition of modified filler and sintering method were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy and Transmition Electron Microscopy. The interface between GnNi and alumina was also examinated. Physical properties such as density, hardness, microhardness, Young's modulus and fracture toughness were analyzed. The maximum value of K-IC= 3.8 MPa*m(0.5) was reached for Al2O3+1 wt. % GnNi. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
