We present the direct conversion of bulk Sn metal to sub-10 nmSn(2)S(3) porous nano-particles based on pulsed-laser ablation of a Sn target in solution. The as-prepared ultra-small porous structures exhibit superior photocatalytic activity and excellent stability in the reduction of aqueous Cr(VI) under visible light irradiation.
