Luteal phase deficiency (LPD) has been described in healthy normally menstruating women and in association with other medical conditions. Although progesterone is important for the process of implantation and early embryonic development, LPD, as an independent entity causing infertility, has not been proven. This document replaces the document by the same name, last published in 2012 (Fertil Steril 2012; 98: 1112-7). (C) 2015 by American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
