In the present work a theoretical and experimental study of laser beam interactions was conducted during the laser texturing with number of metallic materials including Ti6Al4V alloy, nickel free austenitic steel (316L) and aluminium silicon alloy (AlSi7). The surface texturing experiment was carried out using a picosecond and nanosecond lasers. The texturing was performed using various power radiation density of laser's impulses that were absorbed by the surface of the textured materials. The microstructure and surface topography was characterised by SEM. The optical reflectance for Ti6Al4V, 316L and AlSi surfaces after laser texturing decreased. In the performed experiment it was possible to control for the surface's optical reflectance of Ti6Al4V, 316L and AlSi7 from its original value to value near zero. The surface AlSi7 and Ti6Al4V after texturing with picoseconds laser did not show an intense decrease in corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of 316L in Ringer solution after laser texturing with high power density of laser radiation dropped significantly.
