A simple and novel vortex-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction method for the preconcentration and separation of copper(II) as 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol chelates has been presented. 1-decanol and ethanol were used as the extraction solvent and as the dispersive solvent, respectively. The analytical parameters including pH, amount of 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol, volume of 1-decanol, volume of ethanol, sample volume which were affected extraction efficiency of copper(II) were optimized. The effects of some matrix components were investigated. The detection limit for copper(II) was . The preconcentration factor of method was calculated as 30. The method was validated by the analysis of water certified references materials. The application of the method was done for determination of copper levels of water and table salt samples.
