Two novel zinc-tetracarboxylate frameworks (FJI-8 and FJI-9) were solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The 3D cage-stacking frameworks of FJI-8 and FJI-9 are each constructed of a truncated octahedral cage composed of {Zn-2{COO)(4)} paddlewheel SBUs and abtc(4-) ligands. Eight surrounding octahedral cages create an inner cuboctahedral cavity. In addition, both FJI-8 and FJI-9 exhibit tunable luminescence and white-light emission via varying the excitation wavelength.
