A self-contained photoacid generator for super acid along with the photoinduced 6 pi-electrocyclization reaction of the terarylene backbone is demonstrated. The photoinitiated cationic polymerization of epoxy-monomers is achieved with an efficient photochemical quantum yield, Phi(acid) = 0.47.
