A novel supramolecular assembly was constructed by the non-covalent complexation of hexa-cata-hexabenzocoronene modified permethyl-beta-cyclodextrins with tetrasodium tetraphenylporphyrin-tetrasulfonate in water, exhibiting highly efficient excited energy transfer behaviors and a promising DNA photocleavage ability.
