The topology of hydrophobic moieties can affect the stability of self-assembled micelles. Curved corannulene and flat perylene were selected as model hydrophobic molecules with poly(ethylene glycol) as the hydrophilic segment. The curvature can enhance the intermolecular pi-pi interaction, and hence the driving force of micelle formation.
