In this study, a rapid and convenient synthesis of quinolines was developed. The reaction involves a one-pot synthesis of pyranoquinoline derivatives from aldehyde, malonitrile, and 8-hydroxyquinoline using DABCO as a catalyst at 80 degrees C in H2O/EtOH as the solvent in good to high yields.
