Iridium-catalyzed C-H alkylation of 3-carbonyl-2-(alkylamino)pyridines via secondary sp(3) C-H activation adjacent to the nitrogen atom, with terminal alkenes proceeded to give the corresponding a-secondary amines in high yields. The reaction was efficiently catalyzed by a cationic iridium complex coordinated with 1,5-cyclooctadiene.
